Dear Friend,
If you have supported the Arizona Women’s History Trail (AWHT) in the past, thank you. If you are unfamiliar with our efforts, let me say “Welcome!” The AWHT honors the women who made Arizona great. They played important roles in many fields during the formative years of our state. But sadly, many of these women remain unknown, robbing today’s generation of the pride, inspiration, and hope that could be gained from their stories.
AWHT is changing all that. In the past few years, we’ve worked with scholars, communities, and individuals to identify and honor the women who made our state great. Through the help of people like you, we’ve accomplished so much in just a short amount of time:
- Our Centennial Project, a traveling exhibit gives people the chance to meet visionary women who have contributed greatly to their communities and helped found and build our state.
- Walking tours and bus tours let people travel in the paths of the great women of yesteryear.
- A website and a Facebook page. Our website includes a 61 page women’s history bibliography, as well as profiles and photos of over 80 women.
- Historic re-enactments commemorating the hundredth anniversary of women’s right to vote coming in 2012. Arizona played a key role in this effort, and in many ways led the nation towards women’s suffrage. Up until now, a small handful of passionate, committed friends have helped to make the Trail a reality.
Now, we are inviting you to join us. Your donation of $50 as a charter patron of the AWHT will link your name forever with the brilliant and courageous women who have come before us. You will be invited to attend AWHT meetings, and receive notices regarding future events in your area. You’ll automatically be added to our mailing list, so that you are among the first to know about AWHT’s continued growth and development. For a few dollars more, you can also give a truly unique gift by nominating someone into the AWHT Honor Roll. This is an opportunity to say “thank you” to the women – and men – who helped you get where you are today. Through a higher donation, you will be able to sponsor a woman listed on the trail. Find someone whose story resonates with you on a personal level, or recognize a connection that she has with your family or organization.
If you decide to join us, please mail your check, along with the donation form (download below). I am hoping to hear from you soon. Thank you so much for your support and for “making history” with the AWHT founding team!
